Phase 3 trial shows rapid onset and short duration for trenibotulinumtoxinE

A Phase 3 clinical trial of Allergan Aesthetics' trenibotulinumtoxinE showed the novel neurotoxin offers rapid onset but a short duration of effect in toxin-naïve adults. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated a 700 U dose in 309 participants with moderate-to-severe glabellar lines. Treatment effects began as early as hour 8 and peaked at day 7, where 65.7% of the treated group achieved at least a two-grade improvement on the Facial Wrinkle Scale, compared to just 1.2% of the placebo group. Patient satisfaction with natural-looking results reached 84.7% at day 7. However, the treatment is highly transient, with glabellar lines returning to baseline severity by day 21. Safety data showed no serious treatment-related adverse events or distant toxin spread.
