Human acellular dermal matrix skin booster outperforms hyaluronic acid in trial
A randomized, split-face clinical trial published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences in February 2026 demonstrates that particulate human acellular dermal matrix (phADM) delivers superior skin rejuvenation compared to traditional hyaluronic acid (HA). The double-blinded study evaluated 20 adult participants with a mean age of 54.7 years, including 13 females, who had moderate cheek roughness. Investigators injected phADM on one side of the face and HA on the contralateral side. The phADM-treated side showed significantly greater improvements in skin density, volume, elasticity, wrinkle depth, pore area, and skin barrier hydration at multiple time points.
