Jetema Botulinum Toxin Receives Regulatory Approval in Thailand

South Korean biopharmaceutical company Jetema has received final product approval from the Thai Food and Drug Administration for its botulinum toxin, Jetema The Toxin 100U. This milestone represents Jetema's first overseas regulatory approval for its toxin, activating a previously signed five-year supply contract with local partner Aestema worth 32 million dollars (44 billion won). Large-scale shipments of the product to Thailand are scheduled to begin next month.

While this regulatory milestone is specific to the Southeast Asian market, it signals a broader shift that North American and European clinicians should watch. South Korean aesthetic manufacturers are increasingly securing regulatory footholds outside their domestic market, establishing the clinical track records and manufacturing scale required for eventual entry into western markets. As Jetema begins its international expansion, the long-term result will likely be a more crowded, price-competitive global neuromodulator market, ultimately offering injectors more options and greater purchasing leverage.
